Word formatting tricks

How to fix the formatting of ordered lists in Microsoft Word

While editing I just discovered a handy word formatting trick. Do you ever get frustrated with it making numbered lists inconsistent? Some numbers are plain text, others are bold or italic? And you seem to have no control over the formatting of the numbers or letters?

Click at the END of the line the number is on (the end of the paragraph) and you will find an empty space with the incorrect formatting. You can change the formatting of this space to affect the formatting of the number!

[As at 2/05/2013 this applied to Microsoft Word 2007 for PC)
