Getting started in book marketing
With your sales plan in hand you can direct and lead us in the methods you want to use to market your ebook. You will need to get publicity in order to sell your book(s). This may include setting up author pages on ebook distributor websites like Amazon and getting people to review and rate your book on these sites, establishing websites, conducting marketing campaigns, media releases and author promotions, getting on the radio and/or any prominent book recommendation avenues that relate to your target market, building your author profile by offering free articles on a blog, interviews, speaking at events, loading videos onto YouTube, social networking—anything you can think of.
Author Marketing Plan
There are lots of things to consider with book marketing, and the key is to focus your resources on what is going to be most effective. This will be different for different books and different organisations or authors. One approach is to create a marketing plan, that all of your marketing decisions and actions stem from. This may also include a plan to evaluate effectiveness.
The alternative is to jump straight in and focus on small, practical steps, try things out and see how you go. Doing it that way is probably faster and cheaper in the short term, but it will not pay off in the long term. It’s better to be guided and directed with a team approach to the big picture. You really need a marketing plan for that, even if it's just a fairly simple one or two page Word document.
Social Media
Through our sister company Greenslade Creations we offer social media marketing that comes with a strategy and an advertising budget. As long as you are willing to have regular input we can assist with the creative and technical aspects of your social strategy. Goodreads are part of the social media package we offer to authors. We have a primary focus on Facebook, and secondary on Twitter and LinkedIn. We add Youtube if the budget allows and if videos are available. We can also manage Instagram, Pinterest, blogs and more. It really depends on your budget and on what content you have in mind to provide us, or get us to come up with.
