The author has created an amazing world with so much richness and depth. There's definitely a lot to explore if you like extensive world building.
It tells the story of Talon, a young man who lives in Jaria, a land where his people, the Kriites, can develop special abilities that include gaining certain 'kin' who enable them to have additional powers. It doesn't take long for Talon to gain an ice tiger as his first 'kin'. The story goes from there, with him meeting people who love him, some who are indifferent, and some who want to kill him.
