In June 2022, I wrote a blog congratulating Silva McLeod, one of our clients, for gaining a traditional book publishing deal. Now Silva’s book has been released by Exisle Publishing and is available for sale. You can buy it on sites like Booktopia, here.

In early 2021, Silva McLeod contacted us, looking for an editor to help her with a memoir she’d written. We started with a manuscript assessment, then moved on to two rounds of line editing, including a few revision rounds. We also had a publishing consultation with Silva so we could discuss the next steps with her as she was interested in trying to find a traditional publisher for her story. We encouraged her along the way and helped answer a lot of questions about how an unknown author went about finding a traditional publisher.

Silva’s story is amazing and moving. It encompasses so many elements—humble beginnings to successful career, true love, cultural differences, racism, sexism, with an emphasis on overcoming all obstacles with determination and persistence. It was clear from the start that she had a great ability to turn real events into a readable and engaging story and we were happy to help her hone this skill, teaching her the best and most effective ways to communicate her story.
