About the project
We were involved in this book from the very beginning, in that we did the editing of the manuscript before the conversion process began. We designed the front cover, which also involved illustrating the image that ended up on the front cover. We used our Ebook Designer’s Touch™ to make the interior of the book visually appealing to the reader and the book was then converted from Microsoft Word to epub and mobi. This was a fairly straightforward eBook conversion however it did involve embedding fonts, which is not usually the norm with ebooks. This book looks like a very interesting and fascinating read. It was great to work with John and we hope to again in the future. ...continue reading "Scams & Other Tricky Things"

We converted this book from pdf to epub and mobi. This was a fairly straightforward eBook conversion even though there were quite a few images. The only challenge was in getting the images just the right size so that they displayed well across all devices. We designed the cover for Tor, using images she supplied us with and staying with the general theme of the book for the cover. The whole project went fairly smoothly from start to finish. The end result was a very tidy looking layout. It was great to work with Tor and she has obviously put a lot of research into this book as it looks to be a very interesting read.

We converted this book from Word to epub and mobi. This project went smoothly and was it was a pleasure to work with Bill. There were a lot of images and some tables and other complex formatting which made it more challenging than your average book. However, we managed to get a consistent feel throughout the book, and ended up with an easy-to-read and very informative guide for hikers and walkers.

Book Information

Federation Track West is a 1,400 kilometre hiking route starting at the site of Australia’s first Federal Parliament, the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne and finishing at the South Australian Parliament House - site of the Second National Australasian Convention in March 1897 where the Constitution of the new Commonwealth of Australia was finalised. The route runs along existing walking tracks, fire trails, back country roads and beaches to form a critical link in a future national walking track from Sydney to Adelaide. This guide, covering the first stage of Federation Track West has been designed for walkers to hike from the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne to the Twelve Apostles on Victoria’s south-western coast in a series of one day rambles or walking holidays. You'll find that it is more than just detailed track notes with walk planners, ascent/descent profiles, camp sites, other accommodation, public transport information and vehicle access details for each section as well as facts on the geology, plants and wildlife of the areas you will visit. It is also full of historical notes, local anecdotes, regional information and notes on the best scenic spots and places of interest along this beautiful Track. It's almost as if you had Bill with you, showing you the Track he loves so well and providing all the information you need for a successful walking holiday along one of the world’s most picturesque coasts.

There are chapters providing information for backpack walkers as well as day walkers and a brief history of the Federation Track. This is a book for casual ramblers, holiday walkers, hiking enthusiasts, keen photographers, nature lovers or anyone who has ever wondered where the track at the end of the street finished up.

About the project
We converted this book from pdf to epub and mobi. This book had quite a lot of images so the challenge lay in ensuring that all images were of a consistent size to each other. Using the existing, client-supplied cover design, we optimized all of the images and aimed for consistency throughout, not only with the images but with heading fonts, paragraph spacing and any other text formatting that was necessary to produce a nice-looking ebook. The end result is a nice, clean design in an easy-to-read format. We think this book looks like it’s well worth the read, especially with such beautiful images. It was lovely to work with Stephen and we hope to again in the very near future. ...continue reading "Set by the Ancients"

We converted this book from a supplied Word document and used the existing cover. It was an extremely straightforward job and it was a pleasure to work with Kevin. Taming the Black Dog looks to be a very heartfelt book which will touch many lives with its raw honesty and depth.

Book Information

The book details the impact of suffering and loss as a result of a family tragedy and details how the father involved dealt with depression and tamed Churchill’s black dog. While there are no easy solutions and there is no such thing as closure, the book affirms a positive view of life and the ability to overcome adversity.

This project included conversion and cover design. The client supplied us with a word document and we converted it to epub and mobi. We did quite a bit of brainstorming with the client to achieve the perfect cover design for his book. It was great to work with Tom and he has an inspiring story to tell through his book "For Land of Our Own".

Book Information

The story follows my ancestors in Scotland, their emigration to South Australia and the suffering and tragedy which they endured. The obvious outcome being, the family never made their fortune. They did leave a large legacy to build the local hospital, a local hall and are respected for helping many settlers.

There is an unrecognized outcome that benefited every person's health in the colony.
My grandmother told me, how she didn't like family trees. "There are too many skeletons in the closet" she said. "You don't want to know."

My family's history is unique and virtually untold.
The only so called skeletons I have found are the inter connection of family in those early years. Many first and second cousins married. It is this closeness that has led to a remarkable story.

About the project:
This book was converted from Word format to epub and mobi. It was a complex project, as there were over 550 images (200 of which were mathematical equations, 100 were special characters like square root, pi, and phi amid sentences—some in symbol font) and 140 pre-linked hyperlink chapter end notes as well as cross-references to be checked to epub and mobi. There were over 100 content changes made to the ebook after conversion—all of which made this a very challenging job. We now feel after working on this ebook that we can do just about anything! ...continue reading "The Geometry of the End of Time"

About the project
In 2013, Warren came to us with a 10,000 word manuscript to be converted into ebook for distribution.

Wedesigned the front cover and completed the ebook conversion, then distrubuted it to our usual vendors.

Some time after the ebook conversion process, Warren asked us to create a print layout for his book to be distributed via print-on-demand. We then readied the book for print-on-demand. We used the style and design that had already been established in the ebook and adjusted the front cover for print. Then wecreated and laid out the interior pages to suit the cover. During the print layout process, care was taken to ensure styles of headings and font choice was consistent with the genre of the book and style of the cover.

There were no images in the content which made both the print and ebook projects a very simple and straightforward process.

About six months after the print book was completed Warren came to us with an updated manuscript with an additional 20-30,000 words. His short story had been developed in a novella. We provided a thorough line edit in tracked changes. Once the edit was complete we then undertook a proofread to tidy up the manuscript. the next step was to re-do the ebook and print editions.

The next step was to re-do the ebook and print editions. Warren had a new size in mind for his print book so we re-laid it out for print at a smaller book size. We adjusted the design to better suit a novel and the sci-fi genre. The ebook conversion followed smoothly on from that and both ebook and print book were re-distributed with updated metadata.
